“I am still very optimistic about the fate of the transatlantic partnership; not only for its economic advantages, but also because I firmly believe in the idea of the West – which was also the Spadolini's one – as a cultural and ideal koine, a public Euro-Atlantic space in which conflicts between states are softened and energies are channeled towards the search for a common good” (Marta Dassu). The proceedings of the conference hosted at the Fondazione Spadolini Nuova Antologia in November 2013 are evidence of a profitable debate among economists, internationalists and experts on the relationships between Europe and United States. At the center of the debate is a fundamental, ongoing process: the realization of a transatlantic market between the two world powers, a project dear to President Barack Obama as well as to European leaders.
