Follow Next to Me is a memoir that provides a hand to those separate from reality. I was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder when I was 19. This book not only gives the first hand perspective of what it is like inside of a mind filled with paranoia, delusions, and hallucinations, but I also have the education necessary to weave in the accurate facts concerning this disorder. This book helps to lend a hand to others with schizoaffective disorder, the entire mental health community and their support group as well.

I have a B.A. in Psychology and Counseling, as well as, a B.A. in Studio Art with a minor in Gay and Lesbian Issues. I received these degrees from Whitman College. This extensive education provided me with the tools to provide as much accuracy to describe the facts, as I am able to describe my feelings. Also, I have a Masters in Health Information Management from St. Scholastica University.

While I may be young I believe my experiences will help many. This is not a self help book. It is an honest story of the events and turning points of my life, as well as, the intimate details of my train of thought. This book also focuses on other themes such as gay and lesbian issues, adoption, physical and mental pain, self mutilation, suicide, and the tale of my imaginary canine friend named Follow. I hope to awaken my readers to a world both familiar and bizarre. This is a story about strength and internal belief.This is a story of strength and internal belief.
