Policing in Times of Uncertainty

This issue of the European Journal of Policing Studies is a special issue that was built around the theme "policing in times of uncertainty." The EU sets the agenda for policing priorities across member states through the EU policy cycle as they identify current security threats supported by Europol intelligence. This means that the EU is positioned to significantly influence what member states are policing and, in combination with supporting police and judicial cooperation measures, how they are policing it. This issue-composed of seven papers from an international research community based in the UK, Poland, Belgium, and the Netherlands-examines how the legal framework and policy choices of EU institutions facilitate and restrain the work of police practitioners and those engaged in delivering internal security of the Union.
