Late in the 22nd century, an unidentified extraterrestrial signal is received for the first time. Although indecipherable, it bears a striking resemblance to a series of paintings by a mute woman in Burkina Faso. A team of scientists are assigned to look into the unusual place where she lives and works, in search of a solution to the mystery.
