Amalgamations: Fusing Technology and Culture

Ever since the creation of the first tool, technology has been the means by which man has imnproved human conditions and refined his cultural being. This book is about the amalagamation of technology and culture. In seven essays, researchers in ethnology and anthropology moves into our everyday lives with mobile phones and computers, and into the body in the form of prostheses and implants. At the same time, technology is embodied - mechanical objects are endowed with independence and personality.
