This is a superficial review of intelligent human culture concentrated into a hundred pages, in the interest of readers with abundant curiosity but little time. It concerns the pros and cons of the successful electronic storage of art, drama, and music, the extent of which is not fully realized by everyone.
A hundred years ago, the only way to access the rich cultural reserves was to travel extensively to famous museums of the world and to book tickets for theatrical performances, operas and concerts. This may still be an entertaining activity to pursue, but strictly speaking it is no longer necessary. The classical treasures may now be explored and enjoyed at ease in one's own home, thanks to TVs and computers.
There are definite advantages in enjoying classical art in one's home. It is not expensive, nor does it require long-term planning, you become master of the event, and your activity does not pollute the air. You may still have the company of peers, if you invite them.
