Ornamental Plant Propagation in the Tropics

Recent trends indicate that market demand for floriculture products is expanding. Floriculture could therefore play an increasing role in horticultural development strategies for crop diversification and income and employment generation, especially for the integration of women and youth in economic activities. The purpose of this technical paper is to highlight the potential of tissue culture as an advanced propagation technology allowing for mass cloning of selected varieties or ecotypes. The document not only provides general information on the state of the art of tissue culture propagation but gives technical details for propagating some 30 ornamental plant species.
