Indonesia: Energy Sector Assessment, Strategy, and Road Map

As a large middle-income country with a growing economy, a critical component of Indonesia's future strength will be its ability to harness and manage sustainable sources of energy. If the Indonesian economy continues to grow at its current rate, domestic demand for energy will rise by around 7% per year, with electricity demand alone projected to nearly triple between 2010 and 2030, according to government estimates. This publication reviews the state of the energy sector in Indonesia and proposes actions to make it more sustainable.
