Lost & Found in Ranthambore

Boys of the elite Benford School in U.K. - Frank Huber & Sam Yamashita, visited Ranthambore National Park in India, on 21st December on assignment for a History Project ... but Frank went missing!

When fifteen year old Frank, finally arrived at the assembly point of the thousand-year-old, dilapidated and otherworldly Ranthambore Fort, a little after sunset, to his horror there was no car, no group, no guide and not a single soul in sight. He checked the wet grounds and found fresh half-smudged tyre marks of a tourist vehicle having left the Fort.

“What! How could they have really left, without me!?” he cried.

Frank was lost in the National Park, part of the much larger Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve that spans over thirteen hundred square kilometres. Tigers roamed about freely in their natural jungle habitat. The guide had warned the group to assemble at the pickup point in time, as moving solo in a tiger reserve after dusk had resulted in several man fatalities in the past.

“Khalbali is the most popular tigress in the Park, who wanders freely among humans, at will. Unfortunately, she has claimed three lives in the previous four years, in surprise attacks” the guide had explained. Frank’s knees quaked, his body trembled and his chest tightened with crushing terror. He was standing in the face of the mighty and fearless Bengal Tigress.

Frank contemplated over the extreme change of emotions he experienced.“I was crying in desperation just a short a while ago. Nothing has really changed. I am still lost in the middle of the jungle on this freakish night. I am sitting with an absolute stranger and the tigress can return anytime! But strangely enough, I seem to feel a deep sense of tranquil within … I do not understand….” he thought, feeling delirious.
