International Handbook of Research in Medical Education

Reflecting, or perhaps spearheading, an effort to cultivate closer linkage of the findings of medical education research to the activities of medical educators, this two-volume handbook reviews current research findings and contemporary issues in health sciences education. Editors Norman (McMaster University, Canada), Van Der Vleuten (U. of Maastricht, Netherlands) and Newble (U. of Sheffield, England) have assembled 33 contributions covering topics related to curriculum, assessment, and management. Along with nuts-and-bolts topics, coverage encompasses such succulent issues, for example, as the interaction of perception and memory, and how health care practices, such as prescribing habits, reflect education. Because it is research oriented, the handbook will hold value as a resource for teachers and researchers in all health professions, and for others concerned with professional education.
