This detailed analysis and record of a microcosm emerges as a fairytale pattern of forms and colours, scents and tastes, sensations and hallucinations. The red line of this fairytale runs through myth and reality, popular superstition and assiduous research, the instinct of the food-gatherer and the instinct of self-preservation and, finally, life and death. The camera lens endeavours to project what is hinted at by the text: that the fairytale pales before the reality.
