Yehuda Ben Nahum (Feinholtz) embarked on a personal journey following his roots. At first, he set out to find the connection up to the days of Abraham but eventually decided to settle for the house in Poland as a starting point. In that house his grandfather's grandpa, Moshe Aharon had abandoned his family for the unknown Palestine in the mid 19 century.
The journeys of both families- Feinholtz and Angel, families from both sides, crossed the turbulent events of the first half of the twentieth century, which led to the meeting of his father and mother, Shamai and Tamar, in kibbutz Neve Yam.
The landmarks on the way- Danzig, Ben Shemen, Treblinka, Italy, Mauritius and Atlit- carry with them life and death, fear and pain, hope and despair. Along those landmarks intertwine events, memories, longings, smells, tastes, letters and poems.
In an intimate, deep and fluent writing, the author examines his current life in Israel and his family history while having a mental and moral dialog with it.
His artistic hand holds the brush of words, painting pictures that slowly complete the puzzle of the whole story. This book is filled with Zionism that accompanies every step in this journey, as a mentor for the characters, a legacy for the next generations in the Ben Nahum family.
