National Development in Romania and Southeastern Europe

Compiled to honor historian Bodea, whose work focused on Romanian political history between 1834 and 1867, one article explores her contributions to Roman historiography, while the following eight address similar historical questions that her work was motivated by. Topics include the image of Napoleon as seen by Polish participant's in his Russian invasion, the development of the Albanian national consciousness, the image of Romania in the 11th edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica, British cultural policy in Romania, post World War II American-Romanian relations, and the current dispute over Transnistria (also called the Dnestr Moldovan Republic by one party to the conflict).
