Bodea (Romanian Academy, Bucharest) is one of Romania's most noted historians. The focus of her text is a rare piece of Jewish art from the 17th century—an illuminated scroll of the Book of Esther—which is held in the Library of the Romanian Academy. Coverage includes a description of the content of the Book of Esther, a discussion of the illuminated scroll, and cultural-religious aspects of the Moldavian Principality in the mid-17th century which led to acquisition of the scroll in 1673.
