MY LIFE IN THE VALLEY sometimes in November 1999, a woman, one of my S church members came to my office and told me she had a dream. She told me that the interpretation of the dream demanded that I should be watchful for a man would come and tempt me. I must be careful so that I will not fall into the man's trap. I asked her if she saw the face of the man in her dream. She said she did not get his clear picture in the dream but she was sure it was a man and not a woman. I thanked her, prayed with her and let her go.
After her departure, I began to reflect on her message. I wondered why a man will want to tempt me to do what? I used to believe that women are the real channels of temptation and indeed many lives have been ruined by that means. I had made up my mind ever before I became a minister on the issue of women. I remembered in 1991, I came across a father in the Lord who just learned that I had responded to God's call into the ministry. He was very glad and he said "Son, I'm glad for you. But I charge you to beware of the two that can ruin your ministry WOMEN and WINE." He then left. Since then, that phrase has been a constant bell ringing in my ears and the Lord has supplied enough strength to stand. But who is this man that will tempt me? I simply ignored the message and I felt no man would tempt me. Even if he will give me billions of naira, he will not take me away from faith. But I was wrong both in my conclusion and submission. Not every temptation takes one away from faith. But temptation can lead one into the valley of debt, confusion and bewilderment.
Few weeks later, my motor mechanic came to inform me that a man intended to sell his taxi car for a good price and he would advised that I should buy it. I wondered what I would do with a taxi. But later, I thought of my wife who had no job then and my plan to get her something to do the following year. I felt if I could buy the taxi car for her and she could oversee the driver, she might be able to make money on her own. I did not pray to seek God's face on the matter but suddenly developed an unusual interest on the issue.
