Japan's Role in Asia

Sing (Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, Waseda U., Japan) presents a collection of 15 essays (some previously published) that collectively explore economic relationships between Japan and other Asian nations, with separate sections devoted to Malaysia, Singapore, China, and the Association of Southeast Nations (ASEAN). Issues of non- tariff barriers, foreign direct investment, trade frictions, and regional integrations head the list of concerns. Sing, as has become usual, provides a new foreword for this fourth edition, in which he assesses economic developments at the year of publication.
