Techniques of Writing

Many are those who nurture the desire to write but find themselves handicapped for various reasons, one of which is insecurity of language and inability to use the tools of literary expression. Techniques of Writing is designed to walk the insecure writer through the rudiments of writing, especially regarding the pitfalls in language usage, style and literary terms like metaphor, simile, personification, etc. It is hoped that a diligent use of this book would infuse confidence in a budding writer striving to break into print.

ANTHONY OBENG AFRANE is the Deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Association of Writers (GAW). In 1995 he won the Valeo Fund Literary Award. He is the author of The Saga of a Political Guru, The Story of Yaa Asantewaa and Sorrows of Electricity, which has been adopted by the Ghana Ministry of Education for use in schools. He is married with four children and blessed with four grandchildren.
