Giovanni Battista Vertova

This book is a study of the remarkable fortifications that protected baroque Malta from Turkish occupation. It focuses on the career of Count Giovanni Battista Vertova (1592-1647), a prominent yet forgotten mathematician and military engineer from Bergamo. This book includes two old plans of the Grand Harbour and Valletta dated 1633, but never published.
